Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators Debut New Song “Call off the Dogs”

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, which is really just a revamped version of Slash’s Blues Ball, which was really just a bluesier version of Slash’s Snakepit, which was really just a Duff McKagan-less version of Velvet Revolver, which was really just an Axl Rose-less version of Guns N’ Roses, have released a new single, “Call off the Dogs.”

In very Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators tradition, “Dogs” is a good-but-not-great hard rock song. There are hints of greatness, most of which emanate from Slash’s guitar playing. But it’s just missing that special something which would elevate into something truly worthy of Slash’s legacy. I’m not quite sure what that special something is, but it seems worth noting that Slash is at his absolute best with certain collaborators, like the aforementioned Duff McKagan and the not-aforementioned Izzy Stradlin, both of whom are, of course, absent here. So. Yeah.

Listen to “Call off the Dogs” below. It will appear on Slash’s Conspirators featuring Velvet Kennedy & the Snakeballs’ new album, 4. That comes out February 11 on Gibson Records, the new label from Gibson Guitars.
