Your Essential 2022 Album Release Schedule
Your Essential 2022 Album Release Schedule

Conditions in 2020 and 2021 saw wholesale disruption and delay to music label release schedules. As an attitude emerges that things can’t be put on hold indefinitely, there’s a feeling that we’ll see an increase in the number of albums released in 2022 as artists become more stoic to the idea of touring to promote them.

So we’re expecting this year to start a little slowly (first quarter is usually quiet anyway) but pick up momentum into the Spring. If that’s the case, we could see a lot of new music heading our way. So, here’s our list of the albums to look out for in 2022, with their release dates (of course). Plus a few rumours to whet the appetite.

Unconfirmed/Rumoured

Thomas Rhett has already confirmed his next album Where We Started will arrive on April 1st, but we’re also expecting Country Again: Side B from him in 2022. No date yet suggested, but we’re guessing it’ll appear around October/November time.

Sunny Sweeney has hinted through her social media accounts at an upcoming new studio album. We wouldn’t be surprised to see this in advance of her appearance at The Long Road festival in August this year.

Aaron Watson‘s next album will be titled “Unwanted Man”, and a summer release is expected though unconfirmed.

Taylor Swift seems set to continue her journey to re-record her previous albums. We’ve no idea of any sequence she might choose, but at some point she’ll return to her self-titled debut – won’t she?

Cody Canada & The Departed have re-recorded Soul Gravy, the second album from Canada’s earlier band Cross Canadian Ragweed. No date confirmed so far, but a Spring release seems a good bet.

American Aquarium have completed recording their latest album Chicamacomico, but we’re still waiting for a release date.
